Shopping at Men's Wearhouse? Never again. We guarantee it.

UPDATED 11.03.2011 4:15pm EST

Apparently, Men's Wearhouse recently felt bold enough to publicly proclaim their love for the Occupy Wall Street socialist protesters.

Businesses that openly display an endorsement of anti-American anarchy and chaos must be made to pay a heavy price for their foolishness. You can tweet Men's Wearhouse (@Mens_Wearhouse) and tell them what you think.

Until such time as CEO George Zimmer (whose annual salary exceeds $956,000, if you're counting) repudiates this stupidity, we will never spend another dime in any of their stores.
We guarantee it.

UPDATE 1

SooperMexican has a teriffic post on the Men's Wearhouse story here.
The Prudence Paine Papers has a great follow-up piece on this story here. Among her findings:
We closed our store near Oakland City Hall today, for one day, to express the company’s concern for the issue of wealth disparity in our country. The issue affects our employees and customers across the political spectrum.
UPDATE 2

After "Occupy Oakland" degenerates turned violent overnight, the Men's Wearhouse staff returned to their store to find that "solidarity" does NOT mean "immunity."

  3. Endorsers of "anti-American anarchy and chaos"… isn't that the Republican Party?

  4. Anonymous, your post is either a bad joke, or you are borderline criminally-ignorant.

  5. Once again,"bad jokes…criminally*ignorant"… isn't that the Republican Party?

*No hyphen between criminally and ignorant.

  6. The top 1% of Americans make more than $1 million a year. So, assuming Forbes is close to accurate, George Zimmer is in the bottom 99%.

  9. How ironic, a company supporting a movement that is in some ways against companies.
Socialism summed up: profit is illegal.
    What idiots.
But hey, I've never been to Men's Warehouse.

  10. This whole democrats/republicans pissing contest is retarded and doesn't solve anything. Liberals have to stop being retarded and blaming the republicans and the republicans have to stop blaming the liberals and protecting an errant government. Audit the federal reserve, unify, defeat tyranny. Ron Paul 2012. This revolution will not be televised.

  11. Ciphered - Irony doesn't begin to describe it. It is absolutely the dumbest business decision ever.

  12. Anonymous, hate to break this to you... but Ron Paul will never be President.

  13. Just to be clear, the top 1% AGI is 344K not 1 million as someone earlier wrote -- the top 5% AGI is 155K -- Does this make you see things a little bit differently? Also, are those who are so upset about top money earners also railing against a person who wins a gold medal at the Olympics? Against the athlete who has mastered his sport? Why not? According to their logic, that is also "unfair" and must not be tolerated. Does someone who earns/achieves more really hurt you?

Men's Warehouse statement on "wealth disparity" is ridiculous -- they should have flung open their doors and given their stock away -- but rather, their much touted dedication to customer service has been tarnished, and they have offended the productive 53% who are actually their customers.

  14. sicofspending, why in the world they would do this is beyond us. They have alienated the people who buy their products, and allied themselves with people who will never patronize Men's Wearhouse.

No one ever said liberals and progressives were smart.

  15. First of all, who proclaimed OWS against the 1%? The slogan has never been accepted by the general assembly. Second, assuming. The owner is in the 1% I doubt he got there by looting the Federal reserve or by cutting anyone's social security or school budget. He got there with his fuzzy face in a catchy commercial offering 2 for 1 suits in a store kmown primarily for their customer service and their knowledge of their decent quality prodcts.

Quit trying to spin their attempt to keep their store from being looted into an anti-american anything. This whole blog smells of right wing bias and slanderous poo.

I'm buying all of my suits there from now, btw.

Sooper Mexican (even your moniker is racist and ignorant), I have no idea how you can be everywhere at once spreading your stupidity in all caps, but you're doing a good job.

  16. Anonymous, this wasn't a cynical attempt to stop looters - with the "occupy" people ARE. It as an "expression of solidarity," saying publicly what CEO George Zimmer believes - that socialists and anarchists are just fine.

So thanks for expressing support for capitalism and commenting here, but you have a LOT to learn so YOU won't be counted among the ignorant.

  17. Does George Soros really own Men's Warehouse too?

  18. I am a veteran. US Army, and proud of it. I took the Oath, grabbed my weapon, and stood my post. I'd do it again. In fact I am, by saying that corporations financing our elections, privatizing anything profitable, and socializing anything unprofitable, externalizing the costs to our people, society, our land, water, and economy is not the American Dream I wore a uniform to protect. You can call me a hippie if you want, I might just be proud to wear that title if our "republican patriots" don't get off their butts and realize that they are eating the dog food of the 1%.

  19. Before you throw Mr Zimmer under the bus. George has not increased health care rates for his employees in 5 years. He has paid that on his dime. When he asked his CEO's to take a pay cut he did also. If everyone ran their business the way George does there would be no need for an OCCUPY Walstreet

  20. Anarchy is absolute freedom. Socialism is absolute control. Somewhere in the middle there lies America. When the money is unevenly distributed there must be some balance. Since Reagan era, there has been a disproportionate amount of money not trickling down but staying at the top. So, there must be some more regulation so that the wealth spreads. Its not socialism as its not complete control.
Its dumb to elevate the debate to that extreme when we're nowhere near that in America. It would be like saying since its snowing that we're headed for an ice age.

  21. Congrats George Zimmer for having the courage to support the American People's right to protest.
