While we face unemployment and inflation, politicians enrich themselves

Watch this clip, and then try to argue that our elected officials in Washington, DC are mostly noble, public servants:

That's right: Ordinary Americans are struggling with sustained, massive unemployment; rising gas prices (due primarily to the decreasing value of the US dollar); and inflation that is rapidly increasing the price of food and other essentials.

Meanwhile, many in positions of political power and influence are lining their own pockets:

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) saw his net worth increase 453% from 2004 to 2009, from $3,072,514 to a whopping $19,929,018. Yes, a real man of the people.

And the list of Democrats making a fortune, apparently on the backs of We the People, is astonishing. How does a back-bencher, do-nothing Congressman like Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) - who was arrested July 27 while demanding that we stop illegal alien deportations - increase his net worth from $47,503 to $2,358,005 in five years while serving in Congress? That's a 3,669% increase!

Government Gone Wild offers a list here of national politicians who are either very good with their finances (yet still, somehow, very bad with ours), very lucky with the lottery, or very corrupt.

No wonder a new Rasmussen poll shows 46% of us believe most in Congress are corrupt.

ACORN and child prostitution

Is there anything more despicable than child abuse? Two ACORN staffers aren't even casually interested in blatant criminal abuses openly discussed by two people coming to them for advice about how to cheat, lie and steal. In fact, they willingly aid and abet people who appear to be horrendous criminals.

Watch these two undercover videos, filmed at ACORN offices in Baltimore, Maryland. Astonishingly, these ACORN staffers seem completely at ease with a number of criminal behaviors, including:
  • sex trafficking involving minors
  • prostitution
  • child prostitution
  • money laundering to avoid income taxes
  • illegal immigration
  • defrauding the Federal government
  • lying to the Internal Revenue Service

UPDATE: The two ACORN employees filmed have reportedly been fired. But how widespread is this shocking behavior within ACORN? How long will it take authorities to conduct a thorough investigation?
