Try boarding a commercial flight in the United States. Explain the Fourth Amendment to the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) staff as they blast you with radiation and take naked pictures of you. You'll be laughed at. Or arrested.
Try holding a Christmas program in a public (government-run) school. Or worse, try praying before a school event. The ACLU will sue you for sure, and you may face criminal charges.
Try purchasing firearms, and then ask yourself, "Was my Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms "infringed" in any way during that process?"
Try questioning Islam on the streets of Dearborn, Michigan. Be sure to recite the First Amendment to the arresting officers, too.

Wow, lots of references to arrests there. Could it be that ordinary US citizens are increasingly being treated like criminals when they exercise their Constitutional rights?

A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference. ~Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson is making a subtle, but tremendously important point. Our rights outlined in the first ten amendments to the US Constitution are not there to protect citizens from bad people. According to Jefferson, they exist to protect us from the Federal government - the very entity now eroding these rights.

Were he with us today, Jefferson might observe that tyranny is raising its ugly head by quietly reducing and eventually eliminating our Constitutional rights that were meant to protect us from an all-powerful, intrusive Federal government. And only we, the informed citizens, can stop tyranny.

Patrick Henry made it even clearer:

The Birth of Jesus

At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. The Shepherds and Angels

That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. Naturally, progressive media portray Womick as a racist, right wing hate-monger. Under sharia law, no speech that criticizes Islam is allowed, and leftists allied with Muslims are attacking Womick relentlessly.

Thief stabs U.S. Marine, suffers painful fall

You just have to love U.S. Marines like Corporal Phillip Duggan and the unnamed Augusta, Georgia law enforcement officer who wrote the police report on this incident, which took place in late November 2010:

His stupidity not proven sufficiently by shoplifting at Best Buy, this criminal assaulted one of four Marines collecting Toys for Tots at the store. The final paragraph in the news clipping above reads:

"The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose, and a broken jaw... injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off the curb after stabbing the Marine," according to a police report.

Are you a mayor on Foursquare? Maybe you check in using Facebook? Perhaps you post your Twitter updates to other social media networks like LinkedIn, Yammer, or Plaxo?

Many people use social media and casually brag about what a fancy hotel they're in, or boast about visiting a famous landmark. But thoughtlessly revealing your location may be dangerous.

A significant percentage of former home invasion specialists (AKA burglars) say they use social media to target properties where the owners aren't home. Among the common-sense steps you can take to protect your social media security:

Adjust your Facebook privacy settings so only your friends see your posts.
Add only your actual friends and associates to your social media networks.
If you're going to announce that you'll be out of town, everyone who can see your post knows that. Be careful.
Avoid posting photos that reveal your address or obvious landmarks near your residence. Don't make it easy.
Turn off geo-tagging in your mobile device's camera settings. Geo-tagging embeds GPS coordinates in your photos when enabled, so it's easy to find your location.
Don't post photos of expensive items in your home that would interest thieves.

Apparently, Men's Wearhouse recently felt bold enough to publicly proclaim their love for the Occupy Wall Street socialist protesters.

Businesses that openly display an endorsement of anti-American anarchy and chaos must be made to pay a heavy price for their foolishness. You can tweet Men's Wearhouse (@Mens_Wearhouse) and tell them what you think.

Until such time as CEO George Zimmer (whose annual salary exceeds $956,000, if you're counting) repudiates this stupidity, we will never spend another dime in any of their stores.

We guarantee it.

In the radio advertisement (audio below), Keller says, "If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner-in-chief, please do not take this class. You've already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law. Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you this class. Once again, with no shame, I am Crockett Keller."

Gov. Rick Perry's latest controversy: drunk or sober?

Some watched and listened to Gov. Rick Perry's recent speech in New Hampshire and speculated that perhaps the Republican Presidential hopeful was drunk.

During his October 28, 2011 presentation at the Cornerstone annual awards and fundraising dinner, Perry re-asserted his conservative credentials and offered details about his flat tax proposal.

We watched the entire speech, and we're not quite sure why anyone would conclude the governor had imbibed too much before speaking. Perhaps the governor's critics aren't familiar with the cadence or speech patterns of Texans or southerners?

Hillary laughs and jokes about Gadhafi's death

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apparently thinks the violent death of Muammar Gadhafi is funny. Who laughs and jokes when they hear someone - anyone - has been killed?

"We came, we saw, he died." And that from our illustrious Secretary of State? Make no mistake: The world is better off without a ruthless dictator like Gadhafi.

But compare this with the capture and subsequent trial of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Saddam was convicted and executed. By contrast, Gadhafi was murdered in cold blood by a roving band of undisciplined, screaming thugs with AKs and pistols.

All indications are that post-Gadhafi Libya will be run by the Muslim Brotherhood or worse. Those running the US government today are just not serious people of substance.

Sarah Palin - Newt 'would clobber Barack Obama in any debate'

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin disappointed many conservatives when she decided not to run for President. But Palin promised she would be more effective at helping move the Republican Party and national candidates to more conservative positions as an outsider.

Following the Las Vegas GOP debate, Palin weighed in with observations while talking with fellow Fox News commentator Greta Van Susteren. Note that she's calling for more specifics and details from Republican candidates. She also scolds lazy "journalist" debate moderators for allowing candidates to use platitude sound bites without thoughtful follow-up questions.

Have you heard the name Lisa Fithian? Odds are you haven't. Yet.

But watch and listen for her name in the coming days. Fithian is a leading "community organizer" among every anti-American group you can imagine. Wherever she appears, chaos, arrests, and often violence, follow. "I create crisis," she says proudly.

In the 1970s, she worked with the infamous Abbie Hoffman. Fithian has connections with many major labor unions, and has played a prominent role in the Global Justice Movement - meaning she travels the world to organize protests at meetings of the World Trade Organization, among others. Although the account hasn't tweeted since March 2009, Fithian was involved with "Capitol Climate," which boasts of being social media representing "the largest mass civil disobedience for the climate in U.S. history." (H/T @TRUTHENFORCER) She was the terrorist behind Cindy Sheehan. You can even "like" her Facebook page, provided you actually like anarchists.

Fithian tells you all about herself here, sort of like a public service announcement for anarchy:

Andrew Breitbart spoke recently about emails he and others have uncovered that amount to a "Journo-list" of anarchists, who speak openly of their efforts to organize the "occupy" protests with the aim of destabilizing the United States government:

So far, the "occupy movement" has amounted to little more than a predictably laughable socialist sleepover. But if deeply committed, anti-American anarchists like Fithian begin to pull the strings, these mostly-peaceful gatherings could turn violent very quickly.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. needs remedial Constitutional lessons

It appears that Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is in need of remedial Constitution lessons. In the clip below, Jackson actually suggests that President Barack Hussein Obama should act as a dictator, and simply ignore our Constitution, the Congress and the courts.

Jackson's econonomically-illiterate theories are interesting, to say the least: The Federal government should just bail out every broke state. And every broke city. Right now. Jackson somehow thinks this will magically end overspending problems in fiscally irresponsible states and municipalities?

Then, the ever-magnanimous Federal government should hire every unemployed person (he doesn't specify, but we assume this includes illegal aliens) at $40,000 a year, putting them to work cleaning up trash by the side of the road. These working people will all pay taxes. Which the government will use to pay people. Except we know that nearly half of American's do not pay Federal income tax. And these boondoggle "employees" would surely fall in that group.

Just one problem with all this brilliant thinking: The Federal government does not have the $1+ trillion Jackson wants to use in the first place.

Oh, and one more thing. Thankfully, our Constitution does not give our President or any Federal agency anything like the powers Jackson would rely on to create his communist utopia.

So, to sum up Jackson's positions on the economy and unemployment:

Congress (meaning the Republican-controlled House) is trying to seceed from the union. That's bad.
Everyone should be hired by the Federal government. That would be great.
President Obama should borrow more than $1 trillion from communist China and spread it around. That would be prudent.
Obama should declare a national state of emergency and suspend the Constitution, just for awhile. That would be bold leadership.
Obama's "jobs bill" should spend 20 times more than it proposes to redistribute now. That would be sweet revenge.

Maybe Jackson would benefit from having lunch with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for a little Constitution 101 networking.

Perry campaign releases new ad attacking RomneyCare

Unfortunately for Mitt Romney, he actually said of himself at a recent Republican presidential debate, "There are a lot of reasons not to elect me." And predictably, another GOP candidate has included that choice audio in a campaign ad:

Romney has done a lot of explaining about the statewide government-run healthcare plan he signed into law as governor of Massachusetts. But it's troubling to us that any possible GOP nominee thinks government has a role to play in what should be private enterprise. Nothing in the U.S. Constitution specifies Federal responsibility for healthcare or insurance, or anything remotely like it.

ObamaCare must be repealed. If it is fully implemented in this weak economy, it could be the final nail in our economic coffin. We don't need a Republican administration in 2012 that thinks healthcare is a Federal government responsibility.

Watching this bizarre video of the "Occupy Atlanta" protestors confirms what we suspected: Participants in this insignificant socialist sleepover are mere lemmings. These are the very people Lenin famously referred to as "useful idiots."

These drones appear perfectly content to submit themselves to the strangest of procedures as they seek to destroy capitalism, eliminate all banks, overturn the United States government while re-electing Barack Obama, and establish their socialist utopia. Or something:

Let's SLAM the media!

In September, our friend Greg Howard posted a teriffic idea on his blog. Why should ordinary Americans sit idly by while big-money advertisers assist a propaganda machine like MSNBC? Why not SLAM the media?

MSNBC is part of the NBC news empire, and that this entity is a far-left mouthpiece for all things progressive. Barack Hussein Obama and his leftist minions couldn't purchase more favorable coverage than waht is offered by his buddy Jeff Immelt, chairman of NBC's parent company, General Electric.

Featuring hosts like Lawrence O'Donnell and Al Sharpton, MSNBC is by far the weakest of the national television news networks. Some focused attention by conservatives on their advertisers just might have an effect on their revenue.

Naturally, we should be courteous when contacting these companies. Some don't even really know their ads are airing on a specific network, because they allow a third party to make media buys for them. But we can politely point out that we won't patronize their company while they support the propoganda that is MSNBC.

So let's tweet these advertisers, and tell them we won't patronize them while they support MSNBC propaganda. Here are some ready-made tweets, which you are welcome to copy and post yourself.

Naturally, you are free to edit these posts as you like. But let's remain courteous. Remember, we're trying to convince these advertisers that real Americans don't appreciate the politically-left, progressive nonsense aired on MSNBC. Polite language will get your point across.

City demands a fee for home Bible study

Despite the clear language of our First Amendment, religious liberty is under increasing attack in the United States. Our Founders realized an important omission, and ratified what became known as the Bill of Rights on December 15, 1791. The first of those ten amendments reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (emphasis added)

A San Juan Capistrano, California, couple has been ordered to stop holding a Bible study in their home on the grounds that they are violating a city ordinance. Overly-nosey city officials claim the home Bible study is a "church" and that it cannot be considered a private gathering:

Homeowners Chuck and Stephanie Fromm have already been fined for holding what city officials called "a regular gathering of more than three people." These clueless bureaucrats claim homeowners need their permission to hold a Bible study in their home. The Capistrano Dispatch explains:

According to city records, a code-enforcement officer gave the Fromms a verbal warning about the meetings in May. Citations were issued in May and June, according to city records. San Juan Capistrano City Attorney Omar Sandoval said the city had not yet been served with a copy of the legal action, so he could not comment.

The Fromms' citations say they violated section 9-3.301 of the Capistrano Municipal Code, which prohibits "religious, fraternal or non-profit" organizations in residential neighborhoods without a conditional-use permit. The footnote on the section says it "Includes churches, temples, synagogues, monasteries, religious retreats, and other places of religious worship and other fraternal and community service organizations."

This seems to be all about extorting money from city residents, because a "conditional use permit" costs money, and residents must pay the city to get one. The Fromms reportedly face additional fines of $500 per meeting for any further “religious gatherings” in their home.

Clearly, local ordinances that have the effect of prohibiting the free exercise of religious expression in such a private manner stand in stark opposition to our Constitution, and must be changed.

What kind of government encourage citizens to "report" things - spoken comments, writings, activities that may be in opposition to the ruler? That's a time-tested tool commonly used by dictators and oppressive, evil regimes. So in 2011, who creates a gigantic database full of tweets and blog posts, purely because they don't like the content? Communist China? Cuba? Putin's Russia? No, think again.

During Adolf Hitler's rule in WWII-era Germany, members of the Hitler Youth were encouraged to report any "unpatriotic" comments or activity they saw or heard from others, including their own parents.

Barack Hussein Obama's not-so-brilliant re-election effort is being led by people who embrace these National Socialist tactics: If someone says or publishes anything critical of the President, we are encouraged to "report them." Organizing for America, AKA Obama for America, has just debuted a web site that encourages and facilitates one citizen snooping on another. AttackWatch.com is a portal into pure facism.

Sound a little Orwellian? It certainly isn't American. These people clearly believe they should have total control over what you do, say, and think.

It wasn't long ago when Obama's minions were encouraging Americans to report "fishy" ideas, speech, and activity directly to a White House email account, flag@whitehouse.gov. It disappeared almost as soon as it became general public knowledge that Obama was attempting to collect such information. We hope this cynical, free-speech-squelching, idiotic idea dies a quick death, too.

But it tells you a lot about who these people are, doesn't it? Every moment that Obama and his liberty-hating crew are in power increases the danger to our Republic.

Obama marks September 11 with a speech

President Barack Hussein Obama marked the tenth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks with a speech at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

In it, he quoted the Bible several times. But since Obama is the most radically pro-abortion President in US history, it's difficult to believe that he thinks highly of the Bible as a whole. I addition, he listened to "Black Liberation Theology" messages at his church in Chicago for 20 years, which have precious little to do with Christian scriptures, and everything to do with Marxism.

His message, delivered 10 years after al Qaeda flew hijacked airplanes into the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and into a Pennsylvania field, gives no hint of America's resolve to eradicate jihad Islam. Could that be because Obama himself holds no such commitment?

The White House provided the full text of Obama's remarks:

     The Bible tells us, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
     Ten years ago, America confronted one of our darkest nights. Mighty towers crumbled. Black smoke billowed up from the Pentagon. Airplane wreckage smoldered on a Pennsylvania field. Friends and neighbors, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters—they were taken from us with heartbreaking swiftness and cruelty. On September 12, 2001, we awoke to a world in which evil was closer at hand, and uncertainty clouded our future.
    In the decade since, much has changed for Americans. We've known war and recession, passionate debates and political divides. We can never get back the lives we lost on that day, or the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed.
     Yet today, it is worth remembering what has not changed. Our character as a nation has not changed. Our faith—in God and each other—that has not changed. Our belief in America, born of a timeless ideal that men and women should govern themselves; that all people are created equal, and deserve the same freedom to determine their own destiny—that belief, through test and trials, has only been strengthened.
     These past 10 years have shown that America does not give in to fear. The rescue workers who rushed to the scene; the firefighters who charged up the stairs; the passengers who stormed the cockpit—these patriots defined the very nature of courage. Over the years we have also seen a more quiet form of heroism—in the ladder company that lost so many men and still suits up to save lives every day; the businesses that have rebuilt; the burn victim who has bounced back; the families that press on.
     Last spring, I received a letter from a woman named Suzanne Swaine. She had lost her husband and brother in the Twin Towers, and said that she had been robbed of "so many would-be proud moments where a father watches their child graduate, or tend goal in a lacrosse game, or succeed academically." But two of her daughters are in college, the other doing well in high school. "It has been 10 years of raising these girls on my own," Suzanne wrote. "I could not be prouder of their strength and resilience." That spirit typifies the American family. And the hopeful future for those girls is the ultimate rebuke to the hateful killers who took the life of their father.
     These past ten years have shown America's resolve to defend its citizens, and our way of life. Diplomats serve in far-off posts, and intelligence professionals work tirelessly without recognition. Two million Americans have gone to war since 9/11. They have demonstrated that those who do us harm cannot hide from the reach of justice, anywhere in the world. America has been defended not by conscripts, but by citizens who choose to serve—young people who signed up straight out of school; guardsmen and reservists; workers and businesspeople; immigrants and fourth-generation soldiers. They are men and women who left behind lives of comfort for two, three, four or five tours of duty. Too many will never come home. Those that do carry dark memories from distant places, and the legacy of fallen friends.
     The sacrifices of these men and women, and of our military families, remind us that the wages of war are great; that while their service to our nation is full of glory, war itself is never glorious. Our troops have been to lands unknown to many Americans a decade ago—to Kandahar and Kabul, to Mosul and Basra. But our strength is not measured in our ability to stay in these places; it comes from our commitment to leave those lands to free people and sovereign states, and our desire to move from a decade of war to a future of peace.
     These 10 years have shown that we hold fast to our freedoms. Yes, we are more vigilant against those who threaten us, and there are inconveniences that come with our common defense. Debates—about war and peace, about security and civil liberties—have often been fierce. But it is precisely the rigor of these debates, and our ability to resolve them in a way that honors our values, that is a measure of our strength. Meanwhile, our open markets still provide innovators with the chance to create, our citizens are still free to speak their minds, and our souls are still enriched in our churches and temples, our synagogues and mosques.
     These past 10 years underscore the bonds between all Americans. We have not succumbed to suspicion and mistrust. After 9/11, President Bush made clear what we reaffirm today: The United States will never wage war against Islam or any religion. Immigrants come here from all parts of the globe. In the biggest cities and the smallest towns, in our schools and workplaces, you still see people of every conceivable race, religion and ethnicity—all of them pledging allegiance to one flag, all of them reaching for the same American dream—e pluribus unum, out of many, we are one.
     These past 10 years tell a story of resilience. The Pentagon is repaired, and filled with patriots working in common purpose. Shanksville is the scene of friendships forged between residents of that town, and families who lost loved ones there. New York remains a vibrant capital of the arts and industry, fashion and commerce. Where the World Trade Center once stood, the sun glistens off a new tower that reaches toward the sky. Our people still work in skyscrapers. Our stadiums are filled with fans, and our parks full of children playing ball. Our airports hum with travel, and our buses and subways take millions where they need to go. Families sit down to Sunday dinner, and students prepare for school. This land pulses with the optimism of those who set out for distant shores, and the courage of those who died for human freedom.
     Decades from now, Americans will visit the memorials to those who were lost on 9/11. They will run their fingers over the places where the names of those we loved are carved into marble and stone, and wonder at the lives they led. Standing before the white headstones in Arlington, and in peaceful cemeteries and small-town squares in every corner of our country, they will pay respects to those lost in Afghanistan and Iraq. They will see the names of the fallen on bridges and statues, at gardens and schools.
     And they will know that nothing can break the will of a truly United States of America. They will remember that we have overcome slavery and Civil War; bread lines and fascism; recession and riots; Communism and, yes, terrorism. They will be reminded that we are not perfect, but our democracy is durable, and that democracy—reflecting, as it does, the imperfections of man—also gives us the opportunity to perfect our union. That is what we honor on days of national commemoration—those aspects of the American experience that are enduring, and the determination to move forward as one people.
     More than monuments, that will be the legacy of 9/11—a legacy of firefighters who walked into fire and soldiers who signed up to serve; of workers who raised new towers, citizens who faced down fear, and children who realized the dreams of their parents. It will be said of us that we kept that faith; that we took a painful blow, and emerged stronger.

Shorter Obama: 'Pass my non-existent bill. Now."

President Barack Hussein Obama cajoled Congress into assembling for a joint session on September 8, and then subjected them to a campaign lecture.

Desperate to have Americans think he can something about the stagnant US economy, Obama and his minions pretended that he worked on an actual plan to create jobs during his swanky Martha's Vineyard vacation. But sane people know that government doesn't create any jobs - it just spends money. Money that Obama eagerly borrows from communist China.

During his stump speech, he pointed his finger repeatedly at members of Congress, and insisted that they pass his "jobs bill" immediately:

Only trouble is, no such jobs bill exists.

Ever the lazy community organizer, Obama did the same thing with ObamaCare and the recent so-called debt ceiling crisis, berating Congress to pass legislation, but leaving them with the bothersome task of writing it. An important clarification: Congressional staffers, lobbyists, and convicted felons actually authored the ObamaCare language, and Congressional Democrats passed the bill without ever bothering to read it.

Like everything else Obama has done as President, his non-existent "jobs bill" idea is another spread-the-wealth-around, big-government spending scheme. And like everything else Obama has done, it should be soundly rejected.

Desperate to remain in power despite plummeting poll numbers and a weak economy, President Obama has decided to take swift, bold action. That's correct: He will give yet another speech.

The Obama Regime issued their talking points in advance of the speech, which will be cut short to avoid offending Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints fans. The talking points, and a plain English translation:

According to Obama and his job-destroying, violence-inciting minions, The so-called "American Jobs Act":

is based on bi-partisan ideas (This means someone who isn't a socialist or Marxist thought this might be a good idea.)
is fully paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes and asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share (This gives us an excuse to raise taxes.)
will have an impact on job and economic growth NOW — just as soon as Congress acts. (The President has no responsibility whatsoever for actual results.)
Every day, people in this country are working hard to meet their responsibilities. The question now is whether Washington will meet theirs. (Leftists, including the Obama Crew, believe it is the responsibility of the Federal government to create jobs.)
The time for obstruction and gridlock is over. Congress needs to put country ahead of politics. (Anyone who opposes President Obama's disastrous policies, or simply demands that the Federal government be limited by the U.S. Constitution, is an obstructionist.)
The American people know that the economic crisis and the deep recession weren’t created overnight and won’t be solved overnight. The economic security of the American middle class has been under attack for decades. (Democrats have held political power in Washington for most of the last 60 years. Their progressive policies have nearly bankrupted the country. The problem cannot be addressed, much less solved, until Democrats no longer hold political power.)
That’s why President Obama believes we need to do more than just recover from this economic crisis. (This statement, of course, tips the President's hand as to his real agenda. The economic woes of America will be solved only when the American people give Obama more control - of everything.)
The President is rebuilding the economy the American way — based on balance, fairness and the same set of rules for everyone from Wall Street to Main Street where hard work and responsibility pay and gaming the system is penalized. (The President is destroying the economy, in the Chicago way.)
It’s an American economy that’s built to last and creates the jobs of the future, by forcing Washington to live within its means so we can invest in small business entrepreneurs, education, and making things the world buys, not outsourcing, loopholes and reckless financial deals that put middle class security at risk. (If only the Federal government could confiscate more of your money, President Obama would really be able to spread the wealth around better than he's been able to so far.)

Hack politician talking points - regardless of the source - are nothing more than a disgustingly-transparent attempt at spin. Americans are sick and tired of sound-bite speak.

Supporters say this chipping could help track lost or kidnapped children, or Alzheimer's patients who wander off. But they can also be used to control a person’s actions.

One Florida school is requiring students to have their biometrics checked before they get food from the cafeteria. And a Miami university hospital has embedded microchips to track whether medical workers are washing their hands.

This chipping may seem strange now, but Ostrolenk suggested it'll become commonplace as it spreads.

“So the next generation arises and says, 'Well, that's kind of normal. Of course you need a device to keep track of you to make sure you don't get kidnapped or lost or into trouble,’” he said.

Rep. Steve Chabot and the Police State

Think your government respects the Constitution? Apparently the answer is a loud, resounding "NO" if you ask Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH).

Watch as law enforcement officers confiscate cameras and mobile phones from law-abiding citizens attending Chabot's August 22 town hall meeting at North Avondale Recreation Center in Cincinnati:

Apparently, Chabot would like to be re-elected. But is he even qualified to be a Congressman? (We know, Barney Frank and Charlie Rangel are Congressmen, so the standard isn't exactly high.) Our inclination is to suggest that one who is approves of confiscating electronic devices at a public meeting is NOT qualified to serve in ANY elected office our Republic, much less the United States Congress. Perhaps the good people of Ohio's 1st Congressional District can help us get rid of this public nuisance of a politician.

Reports indicate that Chabot actually used the flimsy excuse of "protecting constituents" in order to take away people's personal property. (see the C.S. Lewis quote above.) Because Chabot is an establishment Republican, news media haven't even bothered to report this story. Just curious, but would an Oathkeeper have executed this order?

President Downgrade: All talk, no listen

USA Today reports that several members of the teaparty movement confronted President Obama after an Iowa town hall meeting. One man, identified as Ryan Rhodes, can be heard in the clip below asking the President why people in his administration call teaparty activists "terrorists." (Rhodes is founder of the Iowa Teaparty.)

Predictably, the Campaigner in Chief deflects the question, saying, "You don't want to listen." Consistent, for an out-of-touch man who hasn't ever listened to a conservative opinion about anything. It's a little surprising he didn't offer Mr. Rhodes a seat in the back on one of his new $1.1 million stealth campaign buses.

And then Obama actually says, (or perhaps has the audacity to say?) "Timothy McVeigh."

Americans are weary of this socialist in perpetual campaign mode. His regime kapos constantly label patriotic, ordinary Americans as the enemy. It is, in fact, Obama and other progressives who detest the US Constitution, and really do view citizen gun owners as a serious threat to their big-government, authoritarian reign.

As a people, let's covenant together to remove their authority over us during the 2012 elections, shall we?

President Obama works constantly on jobs, killing them by the millions

President Obama has consistently claimed since being inaugurated that he works constantly on jobs. Or that he's about to "pivot" to working on jobs.

That leads us to conclude that he must be working to destroy jobs, because that is the only result so far. More than two years into his administration, millions of Americans are out of work.

Our official unemployment rate still hovers near 10%, with many claiming the real number is closer to 20%. Our national debt is soaring, the Federal government is growing exponentially, businesses say they aren't hiring. Obama policies have stifled economic growth at every opportunity.

That's right: Ordinary Americans are struggling with sustained, massive unemployment; rising gas prices (due primarily to the decreasing value of the US dollar); and inflation that is rapidly increasing the price of food and other essentials.

Meanwhile, many in positions of political power and influence are lining their own pockets:

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) saw his net worth increase 453% from 2004 to 2009, from $3,072,514 to a whopping $19,929,018. Yes, a real man of the people.

And the list of Democrats making a fortune, apparently on the backs of We the People, is astonishing. How does a back-bencher, do-nothing Congressman like Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) - who was arrested July 27 while demanding that we stop illegal alien deportations - increase his net worth from $47,503 to $2,358,005 in five years while serving in Congress? That's a 3,669% increase!

Government Gone Wild offers a list here of national politicians who are either very good with their finances (yet still, somehow, very bad with ours), very lucky with the lottery, or very corrupt.

No wonder a new Rasmussen poll shows 46% of us believe most in Congress are corrupt.

Press Secretary Carney admits Obama has no deficit, debt plan

Imagine telling your college instructor that instead of turning in an actual written-on-paper term paper (in which you highlight research results, discuss and debate issues, state conclusions, and perhaps even advocate action), you prefer to just give a speech and "outline your ideas." You would fail the class, just as President Obama has failed the nation.

White House press secretary Jay Carney spends nine minutes here pretending that the President has an actual written-on-paper plan to reduce the annual budget deficit and, ultimately, our national debt. But, oops! He eventually admits that Obama has no actual written plan at all:

With all those zeros, Federal budget, deficit, and debt numbers can be confusing, so we posted a simplified explanation of the problem. We hope that Obama and his team of Keystone Cops will stop dissembling, misdirecting, misleading, and obfuscating on these critically important issues. Sadly, we aren't optimistic about that.

We long for political leaders who will just be honest with us, tell us their ideas, debate those ideas openly with those who disagree, and, when all is said and done, just lead.

City council to outlaw free speech?

What happens when you allow truly ignorant people to serve in elected office? They actually attempt to outlaw the very freedoms guaranteed to citizens in the U.S. Constitution.

In fact, it's diffcult to tally all of the Constitutional rights the Gould, Arkansas city council is summarily declaring illegal - freedom of speech and freedom of association among them:

Even the New York Times agrees this measure is "a clear violation of the Constitution." Fox News reports here on the story.

The passive aggressive approach? Gould residents should be busy forming clubs, groups and organizations at breakneck pace, just to flaunt this ridiculous "ordinance." While they still can, the 1,129 citizens of Gould should act immediately to recall every member of the council who supports this patently foolish idea. And every one of them should be forced to attend and pass a high school civics class - in a private school.

PHOENIX - We hear a lot of complaints about security screeners groping airline passengers. But now, a Colorado woman is accused of putting her hands on a TSA agent at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix.

Court records show 61-year-old Yukari Mihamae grabbed the left breast of the female agent Thursday at the Terminal 4 checkpoint. Police say she squeezed and twisted the agent's breast with both hands. Officers say Mihamae admitted to the crime.

There's no word why she touched the agent. Mihamae now faces a felony count of sexual abuse.

According to court records, she lives in Longmont, Colorado and is self-employed.

That's right: When a TSA agent gropes a passenger, that is an "enhanced pat-down," conducted for "security" purposes. And when a citizen puts the exact same moves on a TSA agent, you're charged with felony sexual abuse, considered a Class 5 felony in Arizona.

The TSA has accumulated a long list of complaints alleging that their invasive touching constitutes sexual abuse. We realize Congress is very, very busy with a manufactured debt crisis and getting re-elected, but isn't anyone on the Hill paying attention to our Fourth Amendment Constitutional rights?

Fox News reports that prosecutors have not been able to charge Mihamae with a felony, for two reasons. First, there was no proof of sexual intent (required for the sexual abuse charge). Second - and more importantly - TSA agents do NOT meet the standard of being law enforcement officers, so prosecutors admit they cannot charge her with assaulting a police officer.

Consistent with previous public statements, TSA simply says it will not tolerate assaults against their employees, but will continue groping ordinary citizens, as before.

When Barack Hussein Obama ran for President in 2008, he was among the least qualified men ever to seek the office. He was undoubtedly the least vetted Presidential candidate in our history.

A sycophant, corrupt, progressive media advocated his candidacy in no uncertain terms, and enabled Obama at every step of the campaign. Our national media continue to ignore significant Obama scandals like Operation Gunrunner (also known as Operation Fast and Furious).

Obama's personal past is shrouded in secrecy. He released a document earlier this year, alleging it to be a copy of his long-form birth certificate. But it was created electronically in such an odd fashion that it raised more questions than it answered. His kindergarten, junior high, and high school records are sealed. His multiple college records are missing or sealed. We don't know details of his mother's travels or even citizenship status because Stanley Dunham's passport records are inexplicably incomplete or destroyed. This, despite Federal law requiring such information be retained for 100 years. Obama's own citizenship status while living in Indonesia is another murky detail, left completely unexplored by our media.

But that is all 2008 Obama. His policies, actions, and statements as President are mostly public information. 2012 Obama does have a record. His opponents will do well to make certain every American knows exactly what this President has done to our country.

Since Islamists attacked the United States on September 11, 2001, Federal and state government officials have been busy passing laws.

All airport security screening within the United States was Federalized on November 19, 2001 - just days after the attacks on New York, Washington, DC, and the plane crash in a Pennsylvania field. It is now known as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), an arm of the US Department of Homeland Security.

Political leaders claim that these sweeping changes are for our protection. Unfortunately, laws like the Patriot Act also carry the unintended consequence of restricting freedoms Americans have taken for granted since we rejected rule by a British king.

Taking photographs or recording video in public places are now acts that merit the attention of law enforcement. It has been documented that Muslim jihadists planning acts of terrorism have "cased the joint" by photographing and/or video taping airports and other modes of transportation.

The videos below, recorded by a man who simply enjoys photographing the trains he rides, raise some real questions. Police asked for this man's identification, which seems reasonable. By law, you are required to show identification to law enforcement officials when requested to do so. If this man had simply produced his driver's license, what would have happened? Would they have accepted his apparently reasonable explanations at face value and left him alone? Or would he have been detained or arrested anyway?

Maybe it was just a slow day for Maryland Transit Authority Police officers:

Among the wisest of our Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin famously said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Most would agree that we do need tools that allow our brave law enforcement officers to do what they can to prevent acts of terrorism. Jihad Muslims will attack us at every opportunity, and will do whatever they can to cause mayhem and death within our borders.

But have we begun to give up too much "essential liberty?" In the end, the nanny state government will not be there for us. No government, no matter how invasive, encroaching, or regulatory can possibly keep us safe from every bad thing all the time.
More legislation in the name of more safety must be very carefully considered. Every step toward safety is a step away from liberty.

The US Senate voted Wednesday to reject a proposed Federal budget for fiscal year 2011, and five Republicans proved they don't care about fiscal responsibility.

The five RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) who seem unconcerned with a $14.5 trillion national debt and $1.5 trillion annual deficit are Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who all voted against the so-called Ryan plan. Paul claimed he voted "no" because the proposed budget cuts weren't deep enough.

Three senators not voting were Republicans Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and Pat Roberts of Kansas, along with Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York.

Note: Both Snowe and Brown are up for re-election in 2012.

The budget proposal, authored by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), failed in the Senate, 40-57. A simple majority - 51 votes - would have moved the plan forward.

The Senate also voted on President Barack Obama's proposed budget. The Spender in Chief's budget failed to garner even a single democrat vote, and was defeated 0-97.

Former Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has a new secret weapon in the works: a full-length, feature film.

If Palin does decide to run for President, "The Undefeated" will likely play an important role in positioning her early campaign efforts.

"This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment," says producer Stephen K. Bannon.

Bannon managed to keep the film secret until now. "We shot on the weekends, and we shot in locations that weren't being used during those weekends," Bannon said. "I did it with a handpicked crew of people I know and trust, and we were able to stay under the radar. The planning for the secrecy of this took many, many weeks."

The film is scheduled to premiere in Iowa next month before debuting in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada. After screenings in these early voting states, Bannon plans to release it in 50-100 markets across the US.

Storm chasers capture Joplin, Missouri tornado

Indiana Supreme Court adds to tyranny

The consistent ability of progressive judges to rule in favor of tyranny, and against the plain meaning of the United States Constitution, is becoming increasingly worrisome.

Issuing a 3-2 decision in Richard L. Barnes v. State of Indiana, the Indiana Supreme Court has pronounced that citizens of Indiana have no right to resist illegal police entry into their home.

Justice Steven David writes in the majority opinion: "We believe... a right to resist an unlawful police entry into a home is against public policy and is incompatible with modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence. We also find that allowing resistance unnecessarily escalates the level of violence and therefore the risk of injuries to all parties involved without preventing the arrest." (emphasis added)

Well, perhaps police should make certain they make only legal entries into private homes, so they don't get shot or otherwise injured by an ordinary citizen who is legally defending his family and personal property.

Apparently David and the two other Constitutionally-illiterate justices believe precedent, their own opinions, and the latest law school graduate's white papers are more important than the Constitution itself.

Ironically, this is exactly what the Founders aimed to prevent when they wrote the Fourth Amendment (part of the Bill of Rights). It reads:

Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Note the absence of any "violence prevention" thinking? In other words, the Indiana court's decision is plainly unconstitutional.

The Magna Carta

A nwitimes article gets the implications of this ill-informed decision exactly right: "Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes." A final, comforting thought: David further opined that a person arrested during unlawful entry by police can be released on bail, and has plenty of opportunities to protest the illegal entry through the court system. So, even though you're minding your own business and the police have no legal right to enter your home, David isn't troubled by your unlawful arrest or imprisonment, either.

That is "modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence," and it has no place in our Constitutional Republic.

President Obama and his national security team were pictured this week as they focused their intent, collective gaze on something. We were told, in White House Version 1.0, that it was a live feed from Abbotabad, Pakistan, as US Navy SEAL "assaulters" killed Osama bin Laden.

But Central Intelligence Agency chief Leon Panetta now says there is no video of the Osama bin Laden raid. There was supposed to be, but the feed blacked out for 25 minutes, according to Panetta. So when a video and still images surface, as they eventually must, will they be trustworthy?

Seeing is believing, right? Or is it? Watch this clip, and then tell us you'll believe any photographic "evidence."

We are Americans, and we have the government we asked for. Let's all agree to ask for better in 2012, shall we?

We are not members of the Republican Party - local, state, or national (although we have been, in the past). Nor do we financially support the various national Republican organizations. We decided long ago to support only individual candidates, since the national organizations have a disappointing habit of supporting liberal candidates.

In 2008, we cast our ballot for Sarah Palin, despite the fact the John McCain was the Presidential candidate. Since then, we have consistently said we would never again vote for a liberal GOP candidate like McCain.

But the longer we watch the Marxist reign of Barack Hussein Obama II, the more we realize that the 2012 Presidential election may be unique. We are beginning to believe that the next national election will decide whether or not the United States of America remains a Constitutional Republic.

We do not want our America to melt into the murky darkness, as so many declining nation-states have done, and are doing. We'd prefer to see elected officials who are citizen-servants, rather than elitist political-class rulers. We'd rather see a limited Federal government, which our Founders envisioned. We'd like to see many Federal departments and programs curtailed or abolished. We'd rejoice over a balanced budget, reduced debt, and relaxed regulation. Obama and his minions seem to hold the polar opposite view.

During what surely will be a rigorous Republican Presidential primary campaign, we will support Constitutional conservatives. We will politely and respectfully point out the policy deficiencies of liberal Republicans, sometimes referred to as "RINOs" (Republican In Name Only). And you can count on us to continually deride the progressive, anti-American policies of the Obama Regime.

But in November 2012, we will vote for the victorious GOP candidate, whoever that is, because we are convinced that this nation cannot survive a second Obama term.

Former Miss USA accuses TSA of sexual assault

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continues to violate the Fourth Amendment rights of US citizens who travel through airports. The Constitutional language is quite plain:

Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. Simple translation: The TSA has no Constitutional or legal basis for searching you at the airport, unless they have probable cause to believe you present a danger to air travel safety.

Former Air America host Nicole Sandler learned an important lesson in civility Tuesday night: Progressives don't have any. And the rest of us are tired of their boorish, thug-like behavior.

After a warning by police, Sandler was arrested and charged with trespassing at a Congressional town hall meeting held by Rep. Allen West (R-FL).

There is more video of the incident posted on YouTube. Ms Sandler hasn't posted on her blog since last November - perhaps she's been too busy disturbing the peace. NBC Miami reports that 51 year-old Sandler posted bail and was released from custody after 17 hours.

Slowly, the world is returning to normal.

Obama releases long-form birth certificate - or does he?

President Barack Hussein Obama II released his long-form birth certificate today. Or so he said.

Ironically, Obama himself has said that the birth certificate and eligibility issue has been a "distraction." He claims it has kept him from much more important deliberations, like solving the $1.4 trillion budget deficit and $14.5 trillion debt, for which he is primarily responsible.

There will be much debate in the coming days over the authenticity of this document. We are not document experts. But we have used Adobe Illustrator enough to understand that this YouTube video seriously undermines the legitimacy of Obama's latest release:

The birth certificate posted by the White House is in Adobe Portable Document Format, commonly referred to as a PDF. When opened in Illustrator, the "official" birth certificate is clearly a multi-layer document. When scanning a document and saving as a PDF, this is NOT normal.

Sadly, Obama seems only to have stoked the fires of controversy surrounding the circumstances of his birth. Regardless of how this is resolved, we contend that Obama has proven himself unworthy of serving as President.

Lawrence O'Donnell: God's tax policy? 'Jesus would take it all.'

We are weary of amateur, liberal theologians - many of whom are agnostic or atheist themselves, but want to lecture us about what our religious beliefs should be. Apparently, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell fancies himself - simultaneously - an expert on both New Testament Christian theology and tax policy:

In other words, Jesus Christ was a socialist community organizer who would approve of President Obama increasng your taxes. (See why it's so difficult to take progressives seriously when it comes to actual ideas?)

Unfortunately for O'Donnell, those of us who really do read and believe the Bible understand that the passage he quotes has nothing whatsoever to do with US tax policy. It speaks instead to the condition of someone's heart condition as they contribute freely to the temple for religious, ministry purposes.

But taxes are not voluntary contributions. They are forced extractions.

O'Donnell is just another progressive "thinker" who wants you to believe that God himself supports redistribiution of wealth. But Jesus said in Matthew 22, "So give back to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

Thankfully, irrelevant, self-appointed "preachers" of Marxism like O'Donnell are easy to ignore.

Free advice for Obama's religiously-illiterate White House

President Obama and his sycophant media have declared in the past his devotion to God, as a Christian. Trouble is, we don't see much evidence of that.

He and his family attended Rev. Jeremiah Wright's black liberation theology church for more than 20 years, but abandoned both Wright and the church when they became political liabilities. Although he spoke openly of "finding a new church" in Washington, DC, the President has been far too busy golfing to attend worship services regularly.

Since being elected, it has been Obama's standard practice to issue statements recognizing every major Muslim holiday. That's why his failure to acknowledge Good Friday or Easter seems so significant: most Christians would say Easter is the most important religious holiday of the year. In fairness, Obama did issue a statement for Easter 2010. But it was widely criticized, because it was so watered-down that it included references to every other world religion, and even non-religious people. WARNING: The video linked in this post contains extreme violence.

A very disturbing video of an assault that took place April 18 in a Baltimore-area McDonald's restaurant has gone viral. Normal people who watch the video in horror feel our pulses quicken and outrage building.

Police eventually arrested a 14 year-old girl (charged as a juvenile) and an 18 year-old woman. And of course it's a "hate crime." Only bitter, angry, hate-filled people could lash out so violently. Prosecutors are "looking into" the possibiity of charging both suspects with that as well.

McDonald's has fired the employee who chose to use his mobile phone to video the crime, rather than call police. But other employees can be seen in the video, watching - and actually laughing - as the beating takes place. One makes a half-hearted attempt to stop the violence, as does another patron. But those who stood by should be charged as accessories to the crime.

Subsequent reports have revealed that the victim is a transgendered person or a transvestite. We do not support the idea of a transgender or transvestite "lifestyle." But some are now actually saying the victim invited a beating, by attempting to use a women's restroom. It doesn't matter what motivated these criminals to attack this person so viciously.

It doesn't matter who the victim was, or what their "lifestyle" is. There is absolutely NO excuse for violence of this kind, except self-defense. Since that doesn't seem to be the case here, we urge prosecutors to seek the maximum penalty under the law for both of the perpetrators. Animals who look like human beings, but behave in this manner, must be kept locked away from the rest of us, for our own safety.

It is interesting to note that most media accounts of the incident did not report any description of the attackers, despite the fact that no arrests had been made when the story broke. Apparently, our progressive media are too afraid to report that two black women were the suspects, for fear of being branded racists by the Al Sharpton crowd.

The official budget of the United States indicates that in fiscal year 2011 alone, the country will borrow another $1.267 trillion just to pay this year's bills. But numbers in the trillions are just too large for most of us to grasp - a fact most politicians count on, to keep us in the dark about what they're really doing. So we offer the following, simplified illustration: Imagine we're talking about your household income, expenses and debt.

We'll begin with a baseline we can all relate to: your annual income is $38,340. The problem is that your expenses are 1 1/2 times your income, so you're using credit cards to pay your bills. Why are Houston, TX police testing spy drones?

Houston, TX police didn't know that KPRC television cameras were watching when they convened a group of law enforcement and Homeland Security officials to launch an unmanned drone spy plane. When they did realize the media was present, officials threatened to have the Federal Aviation Administration charge the KPRC helicopter pilot with violation of restricted air space. Unfortunately for the secrecy-seeking tyrant-wannabes, the FAA insisted there were no air space restrictions in the area.

How will local law enforcement use drone technology, which was developed for spying on and killing terrorists? Houston Police Department (HPD) spokesman Martha Montalvo admits that this technology makes covert police activity possible. "I'm not ruling anything out," she notes at a hastily-convened press conference.

According to this report, HPD officials "will tackle privacy and illegal search issues later." But this isn't Afghanistan or Pakistan, it's still the United States of America. We are governed by our Constitution, which guarantees freedom from unreasonable search and seizure in the Fourth Amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..."

Shouldn't privacy and illegal searches be among the first issues we consider?

According to a Northeast Intelligence Network report, Americans who opt out of radiation-emitting body scanners operated by TSA are being placed on a "Non-Islamic Domestic Terrorist" list by the US Department of Homeland Security.

Naming ordinary American travelers "domestic extremists" is insane. Every American should contact their elected officials - Federal, state and even local - to complain about this. Rather than truly focusing on air travel security, the TSA is being used to control and condition American citizens to the idea that Federal permission is required for everything in life. Congress must act immediately to stop repeated TSA violations of our Fourth Amendment rights.

If we accept all this as "normal," the terrorists have indeed won.

How much is Obama spending on his India trip?

There are plenty of speculative reports floating around about how much President Obama is spending on his trip to India. A simple online news search turns up thousands of reports pegging the bill at around $200 million per day.

The White House remains tight-lipped, saying only that most of Obama's staff will accompany him, as will the First Lady and their two children. A recent official blog post claims these reports are "wildy inflated."

Security for a trip to a known terrorist haven is understandably expensive. We'd be the first to agree that no details of Presidential security should be made public, and one of the last to complain about the cost of such arrangements.

The real question is whether or not the President truly needs to be present personally for what appears to be a massive "junket" at best, or, at worst, an Obama family vacation with a few business-related trappings tacked onto an otherwise touristy itinerary.

Whether the actual cost is $200 million a day or only $1 million for the entire trip, American citizens have a right to know how their money is being spent, and why. The White House can, and should, tell us how much this trip costs.

In an economy when nearly one in ten US citizens is unemployed and home foreclosures are displacing thousands, frugality with our tax dollars would seem a prudent trait for the President to adopt. With his continuing profilgate spending, President Obama gives the strong impression that he doesn't really care about any of this.

Vivian Schiller, president and CEO of National Public Radio, had the audacity to release an internal memo to NPR affiliates that was full of blatant lies about the firing of Juan Williams.

We don't really care that Schiller fired Williams. That's her affair. People are unfairly discharged by employers every day. If Williams was wrongfully dismissed (he isn't claiming that he was), he can sue, and win a substantial amount of money - maybe as much as Fox News is now paying him.

Schiller is either a typical progressive, and unable to tell the difference betweeen fact and fiction, or she is trying to cover for a stupid human resources action - or both.

Here's what she told her colleagues:

Dear AREPS,

Thank you for all of your varying feedback on the Juan Williams situation. Let me offer some further clarification about why we terminated his contract early.

First, a critical distinction has been lost in this debate. NPR News analysts have a distinctive role and set of responsibilities. This is a very different role than that of a commentator or columnist. News analysts may not take personal public positions on controversial issues; doing so undermines their credibility as analysts, and that’s what’s happened in this situation. As you all well know, we offer views of all kinds on your air every day, but those views are expressed by those we interview – not our reporters and analysts.

In fact, NPR "reporters" like Nina Totenberg make personal, partisan remarks all the time. But their comments reflect a liberal point of view, so they're in no danger of losing their job.

Second, this isn't the first time we have had serious concerns about some of Juan's public comments. Despite many conversations and warnings over the years, Juan has continued to violate this principal.

Translation: "Juan Williams isn't as far left as we'd like in his personal views."

Third, these specific comments (and others made in the past), are inconsistent with NPR's ethics code, which applies to all journalists (including contracted analysts):

"In appearing on TV or other media... NPR journalists should not express views they would not air in their role as an NPR journalist. They should not participate in shows... that encourage punditry and speculation rather than fact-based analysis."

More fundamentally, "In appearing on TV or other media including electronic Web-based forums, NPR journalists should not express views they would not air in their role as an NPR journalist."

Unfortunately, Juan's comments on Fox violated our standards as well as our values and offended many in doing so.

The truth is that Juan's appearance on Fox is what violated NPR "standards." We weren't offended by the substance of his comments. Were you? Like Williams, most Americans take special notice when a visibly-Muslim person boards their plane.

We're profoundly sorry that this happened during fundraising week. Juan's comments were made Monday night and we did not feel it would be responsible to delay this action.

This was a tough decision and we appreciate your support.

Why would Mattera care about Berwick? Because President Barack Obama recently appointed him to an incredibly powerful position as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services - ground zero for ObamaCare. Congress had no opportunity to question Berwick's appointment; Obama simply appointed him to a new post as Medicare/Medicaid Czar, with a budget bigger than the Pentagon.

According to a Washington Examiner report, Berwick is a key figure in Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), an international organization that in recent years has been an aggressive and dishonest critic of Israel. The PHR web site offers a press release referring to Berwick as "a board member."

With transparency like this, no wonder Democrats are about to lose both houses of Congress. It will be interesting to see what evidence of further corruption the Obama impeachment hearings produce.

Obama cedes part of Arizona to Mexico

Oh, the Congressman apologized quickly enough - as soon as he realized that this video was spreading rapidly over Twitter and other social media sites. Fox News broadcast a segment on June 14, further embarrassing Etheridge.

People who behave like this have no business serving as our leaders in Congress. There are only 435 Congressional Representatives and 100 Senators. Can anyone seriously make the argument that this man is one of the 535 best people in the entire country to fill the slot? We don't think so.

What in the world makes a public official so arrogant and angry that he would physically assault this well-dressed young man? Did he squirm because he knows his political positions are anti-American? Was it because Etheridge does, in fact, support President Obama's socialist, no-growth, high unemployment, deficit spending, energy taxing agenda? Perhaps he thinks no mortal citizen should ever question a government official? Maybe Etheridge just thought he was having a bad hair day, and was embarrassed to be on camera? No matter. His ridiculous reaction is completely unjustifiable.

Red China provides California school curriculum

California school officials are apparently so desperate for funding that they have accepted a Chinese language curriculum developed by The People's Republic of China. That's correct: California students are learning Chinese using a communist-produced curriculum. And it's all paid for by Red China, too.

Doesn't that sound the least little bit like a propaganda opportunity? Here's the story as reported by Fox 11 in Los Angeles:

Sounds innocent enough, until you consider a little history:

China supports a ruthless dictatorship in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), one of the worst human rights abusers in the world.
During the "Great Leap Forward" in the late 1950s, it is estimated that at least 20 million Chinese starved to death as Mao Zedong's misguided economic policies failed.
Infanticide and abortion are official Chinese policy today, often enforced against the will of women involved. Even liberal National Public Radio reports on this.
The Chinese government also carries out an aggresive forced sterilization program. The US House of Representatives held hearings on this atrocity in 1998.
No one knows exactly how much of the United States' national debt is owed to communist China. The public debt owned China exceeds $5 trillion, but much of our debt is held privately, and no estimates are available.

Should school districts even be allowed to accept a "free" gift of a language curriculum like this? Especially knowing that it is produced by an evil empire led by dictators who would love to see the demise of the United States?

2010 Census cost continues to spiral

According to an Associated Press report, a computer system that the Census Bureau is using to manage its door-to-door count of the US population is full of software bugs, and is prone to crash.

The Paper Based Operations Control System (PBOCS) has not functioned reliably in tests Despite hardware and software upgrades, it "may not be able to perform as needed under full operational loads," the US Government Accountability Office said. "So far, it is not as stable as it needs to be," GAO Strategic Issues Director Robert Goldenkoff said before the start of a recent Congressional hearing on the Census.

The paper-based system's hasty design began in early 2008, after the Census Bureau scrapped plans to use handheld-computers that didn't work. That blunder alone cost taxpayers more than $700 million. Returning to a paper-based method has increased the cost of the 2010 Census by about $3 billion.

PBOCS will generate assignments for the roughly 635,000 enumerators hired to visit about 48 million homes to count people who did not return their forms by mail. Instead of getting instructions from the cell phone-like handheld machines as planned, enumerators will receive assignments on paper.

More than 63 percent of US households returned their census forms by mail, well within the Bureau's target range. According to the GAO, the Bureau has hired enough enumerators to complete the at-home visits. Census enumerators began their field work on May 1, 2010.

So Bertha Lewis, former CEO of ACORN, says she is a socialist. Yawwwn.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Lewis is a socialist. Many people active in public life today, including the President and most of his cabinet and close advisors, are socialists, statists, Marxists or communists. Some are even domestic terrorists. They aren't even trying to hide it any more.

Lewis is clearly supportive of socialism, a political philosophy diametrically opposed to American mores. But she goes far beyond that here, accusing Tea Party activists of some diabolical ideas:

It is disappointing is that Lewis feels compelled, apparently, to forecast some ominous events and attributes them to emergence of the Tea Party movement. (And yes, she refers to it as a "bowel movement" in the clip above - extra-classy socialism.)

Lewis predicts that the coming era of conservative political dominance will dwarf:

That's a lot of dwarfing.

What Lewis means, of course, by using these bizarre illustrations, is that she's certain socialists like her and her audience will soon be out of political power in the United States, relegated to small group meetings in people's basements, homosexual bars and medical marijuana dispensaries (while they still exist).

The truth is that Senator Joseph McCarthy was right: There actually were communist spies infiltrating the United States government in the 1950s. A lot of them. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted and executed for spying because they were spies.

Ironically, it was Democrat icon Franklin D. Roosevelt who issued orders to imprison people - even American citizens - of Japanese, German and Italian ancestry during the Second World War. No one other than Lewis and a few other leftists are suggesting that today's subversive, anti-American socialists be rounded up and put in camps. We just want them out of elected office. Soon.

Jim Crow laws and segregation? Only liberals persist in such forms of racism. The Congressional Black Caucus, NAACP, United Negro College Fund and many other organizations continue to operate today with a separate-but-equal philosophy. Of course, there are still indviduals in our society who hold racist attitudes. But we have come a very long way since Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. exhorted us to look past skin color to examine a person's character.

But liberals will never buy the idea of a color-blind society. Tea Party patriots, on the other hand, don't care about the ethnicity of elected officials. They care about real issues, like the national debt and excessive taxation. Those issues don't have a skin color.

"They are coming after you," Lewis claims. That is true, but only in the political sense. American patriots are weary of our freedoms being eroded and destroyed by pro-big-government statists like Lewis. Tea Party activists are ordinary Americans - 40 percent of whom now self-identify as Democrats or independents - who have decided our way of life is worth defending.

Last, but certainly not least, citizens are beginning to realize that socialists are, by definition, disloyal to the U.S. Constitution. They actively seek a political and social order foreign to the American experience. Some, like Obama advisor Bill Ayers, commit acts of violence like bombing police stations and the Pentagon to carry out their agenda. The Tea Party movement isn't borne along by racismor violence, but a realization that our Federal government is dominated by people who are determine to destroy our American way of life.

What's your take? Why should we listen to socialists like Bertha Lewis? Do they have anything to offer a society that lives by the rule of law, whose founding documents are so clearly at odds with socialism.

How to deal with infil-traitors

The usual suspects - anarchist ne'er-do-wells and unemployed leftist goons are determined to make tea party attendees look like racists, haters and dangerous subversives. In other words, they want to make conservatives look just like them.

Oregon teacher Jason Levin, who may have created his "Crash the Tea Party" web site on school time and with public resources, is being investigated and has been placed on leave. His site has been reduced to a legal defense fund appeal.

Far-left liberals deserve ridicule

In 1971 Saul D. Alinsky, founder of the Industrial Areas Foundation, published Rules for Radicals. Alinsky wrote the book because, as a man who had spent nearly his entire life organizing, he was dismayed at rag-tag efforts of campus radicals and hippies who claimed to be activists and organizers but who had succeeded only in calling a great deal of attention to themselves, and little else. Alinsky believed that the youth protest movement of the late 1960's - early 1970's had great promise, but he also realized that it was ideologically tattered and hopelessly obsessed with shock and sensationalism instead of results. His book was designed to teach those radicals how to organize. source

Alinsky's Chapter 7, "Tactics," lists 13 "Power Tactics." Number five says:

Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition.

And that's exactly what buffoons like Rep Alan Grayson (D-FL) deserve: ridicule. Watch as the uninvited Grayson invades and interrupts a local Tea Party gathering, insults citizens there and acts like an all-around fool:

Men like Grayson are nowhere near qualified to serve in the United States Congress. Just look at the many, many clips of him on YouTube. It's astonishing how many foolish, inane things come out of the man's overactive mouth.

The U.S. Constitution specifies an oath of office only for the President:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

For other Federal government officials, including members of Congress, the document says only that they "shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation to support the Constitution." Members of Congress today take this oath:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Congressman Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) was confronted recently at a town hall meeting by a citizen patriot who freely quotes - from memory - chapter and verse of our founding document:

Whether or not members of Congress should memorize the entire Constitution may be debatable. But Congressman LoBiondo clearly didn't know even the subject matter addressed in the First Amendment.

Note to candidates, especially those of you who claim to be Constitutional conservatives: You'd better be somewhat familiar with the document you're swearing to support and defend. It isn't enough to just talk about this. You'd be wise to actually know what it says, and why. Prove you are worthy of our vote.
